Join one of Australia’s premier private members’ clubs, known for world-class sporting events and exceptional hospitality. Royal Sydney is looking for a dynamic Restaurant & Bar Manager to lead our 150-seat Restaurant and Club Bar with breathtaking 180° views across our ‘Bay Course’ and gardens.
The Role:
An exciting opportunity to lead and oversee the daily operations of the Restaurant and Bar, ensuring exceptional service delivery, high-quality food & beverage experiences and seamless operational performance.
You will be responsible for driving team leadership, maintaining service standards, and enhancing member and guest satisfaction while supporting the overall commercial and operational objectives of the Food & Beverage department.
This is a full-time role requiring availability to work a flexible roster including evenings during the week and on weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure exceptional member and guest experiences are delivered and are of the highest quality in line with Club standards.
- Oversee daily operations across restaurant and bar, manage POS updates and maintain inventory.
- Identify and implement service improvements.
- Lead, mentor and train the team, ensuring effective staffing, scheduling, and strong performance levels, creating growth L&D opportunities.
- Collaborate on event promotions and menu offerings to drive revenue.
- Foster a culture of open communication, support and collaboration, ensuring alignment is reflective with Club Values.
- Responding efficiently and accurately to restaurant and bar member complaints.
- Assist members and guests during the dinner service with wine recommendations and selection for perfect pairing with their dinner, decanting of the wine and wine service.
- Ensure the development of policies, standards and procedures for all aspects of the Restaurant, Casual Dining and Bar areas.
What We Need From You:
- Proven work experience as a Restaurant Manager working in a 5 Star Hotel or Fine Dining Restaurant.
- Strong experience in managing and leading a team of up to 20 staff.
- Culinary school Diploma or Degree in food service management or related field, or equivalent training course.
- Ability to develop a rapport and working relationship with all members and staff.
- Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, POS, Respak bookings software).
- Strong administration skills.
- Up to date with food and beverages trends and best practices.
- A strong knowledge of food and beverage pairings.
- Solid understanding of pricing, budgets and cost controls.
- A deep knowledge of wine and the ability to determine wine faults and maintain proper temperatures in order to showcase products at their maximum potential.
- Current NSW RSA and working rights in Australia.
